We are a group of Democratic and independent women who would be thrilled to see the dream of a woman president become a reality. But we are also concerned about the future of our country and the possibility of more of the same - politics over policy, a stalemated Congress, and a Republican in the White House while big business and lobbyists call the shots. That’s why we have decided to vote for Barack Obama rather than Hillary Clinton, and here are the reasons we hope you will do the same.
- We need someone who can unite our country – Senator Clinton is the most divisive figure in American politics other than George W. Bush
- Senator Clinton’s negative ratings among independent voters make her unelectable in a country almost equally divided among Democrats, Republicans, and independents; Senator Obama’s vision has made him a viable alternative to any Republican candidate as shown in head-to-head polls.
- Senator Clinton has less experience in elected office than Senator Obama; if Senator Clinton’s “experience” as First Lady qualified her for the Presidency, Laura and Barbara Bush would also be qualified.
- The negative, manipulative tactics used by the Clinton campaign are indicative of the “at any cost” mentality that has damaged our country enough.
- We want a woman in the White House who gets there on her own, not one who rides into the Oval Office on her husband’s coattails.
- From the beginning, Senator Obama has opposed the war; Senator Clinton voted for the bill that authorized the President to invade Iraq.
- Senator Obama is unifying our country with a vision of hope for the future; Senator Clinton emphasizes the red/blue divisions of the past to gain support.
- The nomination of Senator Clinton is widely believed to be the event that would trigger the independent candidacy of Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a move that would further threaten the election of a Democratic President.
- Senator Obama is a new kind of leader whom Caroline Kennedy believes inspires people in the way that her father did; Senator Clinton perpetuates the Bush/Clinton “monarchy” – a status quo that our country can no longer afford.
- Senator Obama would bring to the White House the respected and powerful Michelle Obama; Senator Clinton would return to the White House with Bill Clinton, a shadow president whose constant use of the word “we” provides an unsettling view of the Clinton vision.
- Senator Obama inspires young and old alike; Senator Clinton’s support is based in a past that America needs to leave behind
- After contests in each region of our country, Senator Obama has the most votes, the most delegates, and the most diverse coalition of Americans we’ve seen since 1968.
We hope you will join us in the campaign to reach out to other women and unite our country in two ways. Please send this website to other women who will be voting this year for their consideration, and add your signature to the bottom of this page.
Women have the power to make a difference in this election, and Barack Obama is the candidate who can create a different future for us, our children, and our grandchildren.
Thank you for supporting Barack Obama and the audacity of hope,
Signed,

Barack is the person who can unite America.
January 28, 2008 at 3:08 pm
I’m an audacious believer.
January 28, 2008 at 7:03 pm
Finally, a canidate to get excited about!
January 29, 2008 at 12:38 am
It’s been 48 years since I first knew someone I could believe in like Barack.
Thanks, Caroline, for reminding me.
January 29, 2008 at 2:10 am
I am so happy to be supporting Obama, someone I wholeheartedly admire.
January 29, 2008 at 3:38 pm
We finally have a candidate that can unite “all” Americans and one we can admire and respect. I salute the next president of the United States, Barack Obama!
January 29, 2008 at 3:41 pm
At the age of 38, and referring to myself as a feminist all along, I believe in Barack for too many reasons to list. But mainly, he inspires me as a citizen to do the right thing and I trust my childrens’ future with him. Hillary is just too polarizing and will continue to divide this country at a time that is crucial for soladarity.
January 29, 2008 at 4:01 pm
A candidate that really knows what this nation needs, uniting the country to move forward.
January 29, 2008 at 4:58 pm
Born in 1936, I have never worked on a political campagn; but I’m working for Obama because I believe he is the one to lead our country at this important time.

I first heard Barack Obama speak at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, and I told many people then, “Watch for this guy in the future!” I’m so glad to see it happening now. I share & fully support Obama’s vision.
January 29, 2008 at 6:29 pm
Sen. Obama is a uniting and refreshing voice in the arena of divisive politics. He is very capable of being the one of the greatest presidents of our modern times. He really inspires people. Even before he announced his desire to run as president I was for him. I sent him an email in 2005 (after the Katrina storm) telling him that I hope that one day he would run for president and that he would get my vote.
January 29, 2008 at 7:19 pm
Barack is our best hope!
January 29, 2008 at 7:52 pm
I couldn’t agree more, and for the very reasons you mentioned! I’m one of those people who hasn’t been truly inspired by a Presidential candidate since John F. Kennedy–until Barack Obama!
January 29, 2008 at 9:07 pm
Barack has the vision and ability to put America on the right track. He is the right person at the right time for America and the world. America blew it when we allowed George Bush to take over without truly winning that first election. Let’s rise to the occasion, America, and not blow it again! Let’s show the whole world that yes, we can!!!!!
January 29, 2008 at 10:05 pm
I agree with everything that was said along with tears filled my eyes as Ilistened to Barracks victory speech on satuurday nite, I have never felt so connected to a political race…….WHAT DO WE WANT CHANGE………

January 30, 2008 at 1:03 am
The democratic party DOES have someone new, exciting and forward thinking. That person is Barack Obama.
January 30, 2008 at 1:25 am
Barack Obama has inspired me to get involve. I can believe in this country again.
January 30, 2008 at 2:18 am
I hope that with Barack, we can merge our reds and blues and become the Purple States of America. Barack does make me believe in his ability to bring change…and my own ability to make a difference, no matter how improbable or impossible that might seem at times. I thank him for inspiring me — for inspiring all of us — and for making each and every one of us feel significant.
January 30, 2008 at 4:03 am
I trust Obama to lead our country with vision, honesty, courage, and a fresh perspective. He has my vote in Massachusetts next week!
January 30, 2008 at 9:10 am
I have been an Obama supporter fom the beginning.I travel overseas often and I am ashamed to call myself an American under this administration. I , too , am bi-cultural and embrace the ideologies of Senator Obama .
January 30, 2008 at 11:03 pm
I’ll be voting for Barack!
January 31, 2008 at 3:49 am
Now is the time for CHANGE. Senator Obama has been set in place and women must stand behind him and around him with our support. It is my belief that he has been prepared for this day and at this time. It truly is time for CHANGE with a new vision and one that has been handed down through the generations. Senator Obama has the torch - let’s help him keep it lit for a new freedom and a new America.
January 31, 2008 at 10:40 am
Senator Obama made it in the Senate, he can make it in the White House. America IS ready! NOW is the time for the change.
January 31, 2008 at 12:01 pm
Senator Obama can unite the country and bring a new world view that I wholeheartedly support. He is the best person for the tough job of President- no matter what race or gender. I am proud to work for his campaign.
January 31, 2008 at 1:48 pm
He offers us the hope that no other candidate offers. I thank God for this candidate.
January 31, 2008 at 4:09 pm
having Barack Obama and his family in the White House would immediately improve our foreign relations around the world and demonstrate exactly the freedom and opportunity we have always boasted about.

I will definitely be voting for Senator Obama and it will not be because he is a light shade of brown but, it will be because he demonstrates a genuine passion for making our country equal across all boards! I am excited and graciously awaiting his arrival into the White House because I believe that at that time, America will see it’s long awaited change on the Horizon!

Thank you for the great summary. I’m on board.
January 31, 2008 at 10:04 pm
Barack Obama is an extraordinary man, and I believe he would make great changes for good in America, as well as the rest of the world. If only everyone in the country would wake up and rally around him in time!
February 1, 2008 at 12:20 am
I am voting for Barack Obama. He’s the one person who is getting the younger students involved. We need that in this country.
February 1, 2008 at 2:17 am
I will be voting for Barack Obama. I trust he will be a man of principles who will work intelligently to bring together those with opposing views in order to achieve workable and realistic solutions to the problems we face.
February 1, 2008 at 2:34 am
I am a woman, former Rhodes Scholar, Yale Law Graduate and clerk for Justice Harry Blackmun, all of which should mean I’m voting for Sen. Clinton. But I’m not, because I don’t think she can win a general election. Whether it be her fault or not, she and her husband will continue to divide this country, when what we need is someone who can inspire this country to pull together and recruit a new generation to step forward to serve. I believe Barack is that candidate. Will it be easy for him to win a general election - no, the Republicans will no doubt go negative on him as well - but what would you rather hear about for the next six months: race or blow j*&^!: Go Barack!
February 1, 2008 at 3:05 pm
Obama’s a unifier who can better bring together the expertise in the cabinet and other posts to begin the daunting task of saving ourselves from George Bush. As he said last night, that work cannot be done alone.
February 2, 2008 at 1:37 am
Judgement trumps 8 years as a wife in the White House. I vote Obama.
February 2, 2008 at 2:02 am
When I get emotional during a political speech I have to think twice. Wow. Obama is touching something in me that is resonating with others: a new vision of possibilites…
February 2, 2008 at 5:03 am
We can
February 2, 2008 at 2:49 pm
we need someone to pull this country together, not divide us!
February 2, 2008 at 11:06 pm
Having read her autobiography as well as keeping up with her many commendable efforts on behalf of the people of this nation while First Lady, I admire Hillary Clinton. Nevertheless, I am inspired by Obama’s intelligence, vision and integrity - and support his candidacy. We need to repair the image the rest of the world has of us - and I believe Obama might just do that.
February 3, 2008 at 12:36 am
Barack Obama is the first candidate in decades who inspires the young in our country to active participation in the nation’s political process. We have done a LOUSY job of preparing the way for our children to assume responsibility for our nation. Child care for working women is still a HUGE problem. Our public schools, on the whole, cannot now compete with even some developing countries in math and science. We have left a MOUNTAIN of debt, a rapidly-declining infrastructure, a nearly bankrupt social security system, unaffordable college for the majority, and a health care system that is becoming available only to the rich. Speaking of the rich, they have once again demonstrated their propensity for outrageous selfishness and gluttony at the expense of the lower and middle class in the wake of the “anything goes for the corporations” mentality of the last thirty years (INCLUDING the Clinton Administration). Shall we talk about GLOBAL WARMING? Barack Obama is right! Those of us over 50 need to move out of the way to give him the opportunity to do what we have been unable to do…bring the country TOGETHER to a common cause. Sen. Clinton means well, but she is part of the Washington establishment, part of our failed generation, and I don’t want to imagine what Bill might get into in the White House. Do we really want a president who will need to concern herself on a daily basis with what her husband might be doing with the young female staff member down the hall? I don’t want the first woman President to have depended on her HUSBAND to get her there, either. It diminishes the achievement.
February 3, 2008 at 2:34 pm
Obama is our best hope of fixing the problems we currently face in this country!!
February 3, 2008 at 3:08 pm
Barack Obama is the best choice for President because he motivates others to be the best versions of themselves. He will reach out to other countries, Republicans, and Independents to actually get things done! More importantly, he is honest and that is exactly what we need in a President.
February 3, 2008 at 6:08 pm
Jo Reiter is a friend of mine and I really respect her views but I also feel that he needs “seasoning”. I think that his reaction to Hillary was a good
reflection of that and I strongly believe that John Edwards should lead the
ticket if the delegates are split. Two terms of that combination and then we
can have Obama as president and I’ll return from Argentina where I plan to move by the end of this year. My mother’s family came here very early
on and farmed the roundhill section of Greenwich CN. As far as I know they always fought for what was right for the whole of this country. I have
always been proud to be an American but now I don’t know and I feel I can’t stay here until things return to what I consider healthy.
February 3, 2008 at 7:17 pm
I support Obama for these reasons:
1. my liking of him and what he says
2. my fear that Hillary Clinton would be buried in negative attack ads if she were the nominee, bringing out every Republican & Independent to vote against her
3. as aforementioned, she would have ridden into office on her husband’s coattails
4. I’m against presidential dynasties of either party & think there should be a constitutional amendment to prevent them
5. Barack Obama as our president would change the US image for the better in an era of globalization
6. Obama has taught constitutional law, and I’d like a president who knows and respects the constitution
February 3, 2008 at 7:49 pm
He’s truly inspiring.
February 4, 2008 at 3:55 pm
My first presidential campaign was for JFK in 1960. Though I’ve been excited by others, this year brought back the heartbeat. Though I’d been leaning toward Edwards, Obama was running close. This weekend I saw Michelle Obama on C-span and was spellbound for over an hour. Barack and she will make a formidable team in the White House.
Her messages about the disparities in this country and her motivation to return to Chicago’s southside after Princeton and Harvard Law School are compelling.
For those of us concerned about coming generations, I believe that they will be the transformative models that will help level the playing field for disadvantaged youth. More than any other
candidates, they are truly the carriers of Hope.
And for those of us in the peace movement, Barack Obama’s skills in commnunication and credibility will go far on the world’s diplomatic stage.
February 4, 2008 at 5:25 pm
First,I read Barack Obama’s two books, his autobiography and his current thinking. I was ready to vote for him and nothing he has done during the campaign has disappointed me. I see him as the best hope for new international perspectives and our best hope to restore the United States
role in world affairs.
February 4, 2008 at 8:37 pm
I would echo many of the comments that have already been posted, especially those related to America’s place in the international community. Even though I think Hillary Clinton has much to offer, I believe Barack Obama is the best choice to lead this country, especially for the sake of my children and grandchildren.

Barack Obama will return this country to its former glory–finally a candidate we can all support, who has integrity, intelligence and a vision for the United States. YES WE CAN!
February 26, 2008 at 5:20 pm
Barack Obama is providing more hope to Americans and people abroad than anyone since JFK. His intelligence and integrity is unrivalled by any of the presidential candidates in the race today. I am extremely impressed and proud that he is taking the high road during his campaign no matter what his opponent does or says about him. YES WE CAN!!
